TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- The Providence College men's and women's track teams competed at the first day of the NCAA East Regionals on Friday, May 30 at Florida State in Tallahassee, Fla.

In the men's 1,500 meters, senior Max Smith (Dunedin, New Zealand) placed fourth in his heat (3:48.77) to qualify for the finals on Saturday. Sophomore Hayden McLaren (Christchurch, New Zealand) also ran the 1,500 and finished seventh in his heat (3:51.30).

Senior Ahmed Haji (West Hartford, Conn.) ran the 5,000 meters and placed sixth in a time of 14:14.04.

On the women's side, junior Danette Doetzel (Macklin, Saskatchewan) placed fifth (16:23.49) in the 5,000 meters. Junior Katie DiCamillo (Garden City, N.Y.) and sophomore Krystal Douglas (Harpswell, Maine) also ran the 5,000. DiCamillo finished seventh (16:33.70) and Douglas placed 17th (17:05.44).
