The Providence College tennis team hosted the Fairfield Stags on Monday, March 24 in their first home match of the spring season. The Friars, who were forced to move the match indoors in anticipation of bad weather, struggled to earn the doubles point after winning in the No. 2 position. Fairfield controlled singles action, defeating Providence, 6-1.

Winning in the No. 2 doubles spot was sophomore Jen Cusack (Bayport, N.Y.) and junior Meghan Gilroy (Fairfield, Conn.). The duo defeated Fairfield's Michaela Cerrone and Gretchen Amberg, 8-6. Singles play was highlighted by strong showings by Cusack, sophomore Dara Hawkins-Hodgson (South Euclid, Ohio), and freshman Ayushi Sinha (Mumbai, India). Sinha was the only Friar to earn a singles victory on the day, defeating Courtney Price in the No. 6 position, 6-1, 6-1.

The Friars return to action on Sunday, March 30 when they travel to Storrs, Conn. to take on Marquette on neutral courts. The match is set for a 2:30 p.m. start.
