Final Stats

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Providence College women's basketball team fell to Georgetown, 59-52, on March 1 at McDonough Arena in Washington, D.C. Kieraah Marlow and Meredith Cox led the way for Georgetown with 14 points and 12 points, respectively. Sophomore Emily Cournoyer (North Attleboro, Mass.) netted 14 points, while sophomore Brittany Dorsey (Detroit, Mich.) contributed 11 for the Friars.

Junior Shantee Darrian (Trenton, N.J.) netted the first bucket of the game to give the Friars a 2-0 lead, but Georgetown rattled off the next nine points to take a 9-2 lead at the 15:16 mark. Providence answered with an 11-0 scoring run to take a 13-9 lead with 11:05 on the clock. The Friars posted a four-point lead at halftime (27-23), after holding the Hoyas scoreless during the final 4:50 of the half. Cournoyer led Providence with nine points in the opening 20 minutes. Meredith Cox netted six first-half points to lead Georgetown.

In the second half, the Hoyas outscored the Friars, 36-25. Georgetown led by as many as 11 (48-37) with 10:08 left in the game. The Friars battled back to take a 52-51 lead with 6:36 left on the clock after putting together a 15-3 scoring run. However, the Friars went scoreless over the final 6:36 of the game and Georgetown reeled off eight unanswered points to earn the seven-point victory.

Providence will conclude its season against Cincinnati on Monday, March 3 at Alumni Hall/Mullaney Gymnasium in Providence, R.I. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 7:00 p.m. Prior to the start of the game, the program will honor three seniors, and include Aga Lorenc, Danielle Howard and Savannah Price.
