PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's basketball team defeated Concordia University (Canada), 99-57, on Saturday, November 13 in exhibition action at the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence, R.I. Five PC players scored 10 or more points, including freshman Randall Hanke (New York, N.Y.) who poured in a game-high 21 points.

Donnie McGrath (Katonah, N.Y.) nailed a three-pointer from the left corner to give the Friars an early 3-1 lead and they never relinquished the lead the remainder of the game.

Concordia got as close as one point, 31-30, with 4:22 left in the first half, but sophomore Dwight Brewington (Lynn, Mass.) hit a three to extend the PC lead back to four, 34-30, with less than four minutes in the half. Concordia did not get any closer the remainder of the game. Freshman center Randall Hanke (New York, N.Y.) tallied 17 points in the first half, including eight over the last three minutes of the frame. PC held a 29-9 advantage in rebounding at the break, including a 14-2 advantage on the offensive glass. The Friars also posted a 51.3 percent mark from the field. Providence began the second half with a 10-2 run to put away any thought of a Concordia comeback. The lead grew to 20, 58-38, with 16:27 remaining in the game on a three by Brewington. The Friars continued to pour on the offense in the second half as their lead grew 42 points several times in the second half. The Friars also dominated on the boards, posting a 57-20 advantage.

Kotti finished with a game-high10 rebounds, while Stingers forward Jon Dresner led Concordia with 16 points.

Providence men's basketball returns to action in its season-opener on Tuesday, November 16 against Niagara at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The contest will kick off the 2004 Preseason NIT Tournament and will be televised on ESPN 2. Opening tip is set for 7:00 p.m.
